LANTRA BEGINNING FALCONRY AWARD TRAINING COURSE.
Our 4 day training course is designed to give you the knowledge to successfully complete the Lantra Beginning Falconry Award Workbook and qualify for the Lantra Certificate.
What is the Lantra Beginning Falconry Award?
The award is the only nationally recognised falconry qualification and is endorsed by the Hawk Board
It consists of a workbook containing questions about all areas of keeping a bird of prey, from housing to training and nutrition to health.
Why do the course and get the award?
More and more breeders are insisting on the qualification before they will sell you a bird, so it is a lot easier to do the course in advance of even thinking of buying a bird.
As a qualification in itself, it shows prospective employers that you have taken the initiative and looked for qualifications outside the normal curriculum something useful if you are looking for employment working with animals.
What does the course consist of?
The first 2 days are theory based, covering housing, health, species suitability and hygiene, you will be expected to do a little research to obtain picture etc to put into your workbook but just about everything else is covered in the lectures.
The next 2 days are spent doing the practical side of the course which covers, equipment, picking up and carrying a bird, weighing a bird, feeding and initial training techniques and flying to the fist on a creance.
